    Transcription in Bacteria

here are several crucial steps that occur to initiate and regulate transcription in bacteria.

    Promoter Recognition:

The promoter region is a main and specific segment that involves several dozen nucleotides, facilitating RNA polymerase binding and initiating the transcription process.

The promoter is specifically divided into two regions, namely the -35 region and the -10 region. The numbering system is based on the initiation nucleotide, which starts the template and is numbered as +1. The right nucleotides are numbered as + (+1, +2, +3), and the left ones are numbered as – (-1, -2, -3).

The -35 region involves the sequence 5’TTGACA3′, while the -10 region involves the sequence 5’TATAAT3′. In many bacterial promoters, sequence elements at the –35 and –10 regions play a key role in promoting transcription.
